Congrats to the DSX GU12 Stingers and the DSX GU13 Thorns, both Champions in their respective divisions of the Flag City Classic.
The DSX GU12 Stingers were Champions of the Flag City Classic in Findlay! They went 4-0, scoring 12 goals and giving up only one in the four games. They won the final in penalty kicks. Their goalkeeper faced 6 penalty shots over the weekend, giving up only 1 goal and making 4 saves! They are coached by Bill LeRoy, Ethan Gauntt and Todd Christian.
The DSX GU13 Thorns, were also champions of the Flag City Classic. They went 3-0-1, scoring 13 goals in the 4 games! All weekend they displayed great possession play and ball movement. They are coached by Marcus Bryan, Brad Pauling and Sven Christianson.
Stingers and Thorns were playing on side-by-side fields in the finals. What a fantastic experience to have both teams cheering for each other as the shootouts were happening at the same time. There are many friends between these two sets of players and two sets of coaching staffs, so both teams winning the finals in penalty kicks within minutes of each other, and then congratulating each other right there in the moment was a truly unique experience!
